Yeah, maybe... But he's not the only one and I'm sure in some time there will be a deal with him and the law enforcement. They depend on people like him.

Law enforcement agencies, do tend to hire hackers as part of reducing their sentence.

If he has the skill set that cyber security experts lack, then It wouldn't surprise me If they take him on board.

I know. But if he had had the proper skills, then he wouldn't have been caught so fast.

His skills have been proven, that's quite obvious.

It's his carelessness that led to his apprehension.

I wish that could be extended beyond law enforcement (though I can think of many reasons why it doesn't). I can imagine many tech companies could make use of the highly skilled people behind bars. While I think there should be punishment for illegal activity, I do believe that long jail sentences do nobody any favours (moreso in crimes like this). These individuals are highly skilled, and could be productive, contributing members of society.

He used to be a very known member in a Minecraft server community I was in and we used to play on the same server. Still have chat logs from me and some of his friends from years ago haha. The Minecraft community is notorious for being toxic and having kids who cybercrime. Pretty sure, Mirai, the world's biggest bot net (at the time*) was also made by some kid who played Minecraft.

To my knowledge, It was created by a couple of guys In their early 20s.

I'm not sure whether they were Involved In the Minecraft community- you'd know best.

I read about this when it happened. Kids are always getting caught on these type of social engineering schemes. Sheesh that would have been a lick if he got away.
