History has officially been made for the European commercial space industry. German startup Isar Aerospace successfully completed the first-ever orbital launch by a privately funded European company, marking a massive milestone for independent space access in Europe.



The maiden flight of their two-stage Spectrum rocket lifted off from Andøya Spaceport in Norway. The successful flight delivers a huge boost to the continent's efforts to establish sovereign access to orbit and reduce its reliance on foreign launch providers like SpaceX.



Founded in 2018 by former Munich university students, Isar Aerospace has grown into one of Europe's best-funded space technology startups. This landmark mission puts Europe squarely on the map for the global small-satellite launch market.
