Flying sucks. 01-18-2016, 02:00 AM

So, I'm finally back in the UK. Had an ok flight back but oh my, the flight there was awful. Had some serious delays and ended up making what would normally be a 12 hour journey (including driving to and from airports) a 24 hour journey. Not fun.
Previously, I had an experience where the plane took off... then a little while later had to turn round and come back due to a "funny smell" during take off. Had to wait until the next day for a flight.
I wanted to know what your longest flight was or longest travel delay was?

What bad luck. It always sucks to fly.
I think my longest flight would be 18hrs from the US to Vietnam.

Worst thing that happened was I had to stay at a hotel overnight, due to massive delays on a connecting flight. My negative experiences tend to be with United mainly.

Airlines like United and American Airlines are the worst offenders. They constantly delay flights a lot.

I feel like the actual flying experience itself is way better on united than any other... But all my other flights have been shorter ones with other companies so most likely the planes are not of the same standard. I hope that's the case anyway.

Longest flight: 16H from California to Australia.
Longest delay: 26H.
Both the same flight. I can say it wasn't fun

That would've been so frustrating for you.
My longest flight was 20 hours (not continuous of course), and being my first flight at the time, I made the mistake of not booking first class. I'm pretty tall standing at 198cm, and although the flight Itself was okay, the seating arrangements were terrible In the economy section. Even standing up In the plane to walk around and stretch, I had to crouch down not to hit the roof.
If there will be a next time, I now know what to do.
