German officials are defending their preparations for flooding in the face of the raging torrents that caught many people by surprise and left over 190 people dead in Western Europe, but concede that they will need to learn lessons from the disaster.

It's very tragic that human lives and properties are lost to natural calamities the world over. This year especially have been worst. Germany was affected by flood waters killing more than 160 with many missing. It is an unprecedented situation in German history. Turkey is latest to be affected by flash floods. Many countries in Asia is going through some form of natures destruction. Blame it on Global warming or whatever. It's high time we wake up and do something about the damage being done to our environment. I think nature is just paying us back with the same coin.

It's also not a good situation for the south part of the Netherlands (country where I live). It's very sad what happened to people's houses as well.
