Fillers: Yay or nay?

I've watched many anime shows/read mangas where there are either a ton of fillers or a few dotted here and there.

I wondered what you guys thought of them. Do they annoy you? Or add to the story-lines?

Are there any shows where you think they have been used well?

Bleach is one where some of the fillers come to mind. Some of those characters annoyed me so much, then others I liked.

Things like this annoy the crap out of me. If you mean the filler arcs, Bleach is once again probably the biggest offender. After the first filler arc I started skipping them altogether.
I can't stand filler, just because of what it is. They can't come up with suitable content for the show so they throw in crap in place of content. I'm okay with an OVA here and there but what Bleach does is inexcusable.

Spoiler:Yes, I'm still mad that Tite Kubo stopped writing Zombie Powder. No, I will not forgive him, ever.

Sometimes fillers are nice, but too many can be quite annoying.

If there are not many in the series, then that's cool. But if there are fillers like bleach, then that's a no go bro.

Churchill said a speech "a good speech should be like a woman's skirt: long enough to cover the subject and short enough to create interest," but I think the same goes for anime. If it's too long and dragged out, then it really risks losing its viewers' interest. While I wish a few series I've seen were a bit longer, I think fillers may have ruined them. I think the ideal amount of episodes a series can have is between 10 and 30.
