i thought the FBI hacked tor. Iome thing about a weird code in the error messages that led all tor info back to some town in West Virginia.

It didn't equate to the FBI haz ur IP and what you were doing on the darkweb, but it certainly wasn't good. Since then, torproject got smart and advised its users to use an actually updated version of FireFox.
