It wouldn't surprise me if this would be a way to censor the internet while still claiming to support free speech. They (The ISP's) could just censor by slowing down the the speeds to websites that didn't support politicians, or rackets that paid the fees. keep in mind they're one of the biggest lobbying groups and more than likely will play a part in trumps war on the press

It's not just internet censorship, but also just protesting in general. Mostly to protect big corporations, you can tell because they arrested a journalist who covered the oil pipeline.

The issue is deep. And I mean this as a human condition. Its okay, I do not fear it no longer. For I trust WE ARE THE CREATORS and we ARE creating the solutions now. This means of control and censorship can only go so far. and IF WE THE PEOPLE start facing the truth of the matter, "we allow this" then we are more apt to change it.

They may try to capitalize as much as they can, but it will not change what is to come.

There's gonna be an increase in meshnets (some guys are trying to get one going in my area), which is good (I guess?).

But, you can't fucking regulate the internet!
The government doesn't own the internet, and hopefully will never control it.
On the other hand, I'm curious to see what will happen when/if they try this.

PS: Thanks for reminding me about my summer project (A TCP/IP replacement), I'll get started on that when I finish up a new one that I started.

Well I can say one thing good about the US Government, they got tired of seeing so many dick pics, they finally said they are no longer monitoring US outgoing emails. They will still monitor ones coming in because it is more likely that if they come across more nudes it wont be of American dicks.
