A frustrated SimCity user contacted EA's customer support for a refund and got threatened with a ban instead.

As of lately, SimCity players have been experiencing difficulties within the game. Many eager players are frustrated as they are incapable of playing the game.

In a recent press release by EA, they addressed the issues. Further more, they were offering refunds to unpleased customers, saying, “if you regrettably feel that we left you down, you can of course request a refund for your order.” That’s exactly what one user did, or tried to do.

The player contacted EA’s customer support and was told otherwise. When the player brought up the press release, EA’s representative simply refused to honor it. Saying that EA’s “discretion” decides whether or not to process a refund, the representative didn’t budge.

Furthermore, the customer service rep threatened to ban the player’s account. Adrian, EA’s representative, said, “ but I must inform you that if you choose to dispute it, your account will be banned.”

The user posted his chat with the EA rep on EA’s forums.

This is poor service and shamelessly dishonesty on EA’s part. If the press release did not mention the refund issue, then this scenario would be much less dramatic. However, they did. As of now, the user hasn’t gotten a refund. Understandably, I would feel angered and cheated too.
