They certainly should be paid a lot more than their current salary. I also agree with your comments on sport- their pay Is not justified. For example, Lionel Messi who plays for Barcelona FC (football/soccer), Is earning $645,000 "per week".  Try and make sense of that.

Engineers generally don't have to worry about their entire career being a fad and disappearing in 10 years which is nice. Also if they start their own company and reach a wide audience of customers they have a higher pay ceiling than most A list celebrities could dream of.

Good marketing has always trumped a decent education. It's unfortunate, but successful actors/models are actually excellent at marketing themselves.

Agreed. There are millions of people right now that want a product that doesn't exist yet and they don't even know what it is. If you can convince them all to give you a single dollar, you'll be sitting pretty. That thought always gives me a little hope.
