It's easier for me to stream these days, unless it's an indie artist, I dont download music much anymore.

yeah, instrumentals and stuff to separate the stems (vocals, drums, synths, etc..) and sample them... i use a browser based youtube converter/downloader..

I think it's worth it for preservation's sake. I would much rather know that I will always have access to the music that I like, and in the highest quality.
When it was still alive, I downloaded from r/riprequests on Reddit. Nowadays I use rutracker. It's surprisingly good for being a public Russian tracker.

Always worth keeping a couple terabytes of games/movies/music. In the event of a natural disaster, apocalypse, or similar you'll definitely be glad you did.
I used to live near a pretty hurricane-heavy area. The combination of a generator and terabytes of storage made even the worst storms alright.
