RE: Destructive Batches #11
Then what can, if there is any code out there, that could wipe out the entire system? Delete/Corrupt permanently? or just jack it up to not be able to restore itself. What other system, other than batch codes can do it?

Code:
echo Hello! If you want to (insert random incentive here) then follow the following steps! echo 1) Please acquire at least 0.5 kg of C4 with detonator pause 2) Open your computer case without turning your computer off, be careful to not touch any electronic parts pause 3) Insert the C4 inside the computer case on a place, where it won't touch any of the electronic parts. pause 4) Place the detonator on the C4 and remove the safety clip pause 5) Close your computer case pause 6) Walk at least 10 meters away from your computer pause 7) Come back to your computer and this time, take the remote detonator with you pause 8) If you are at sufficient distance from your computer, yet somehow still able to read this, press the detonate button/switch on your remote detonator pause 9) Haha! Your computer was destroyed by (insert your superhacker name here), you won't be getting any (insert random incentive here, ideally the same as in the welcome message, or else user might get suspicious from the inconsistency of this deadly batch) Muhahaha!

Please note that this batch assumes that the debris from the explosion after step 8 will press any key on the keyboard to display the message 9, otherwise the message won't be displayed, however the computer will still be destroyed.

This batch works perfectly assuming that user cooperates and will completely destroy his computer.

In case you haven't picked up on my sarcasm yet, then let me put it more simply for you: You can't really destroy a computer by software, unless it's damaged to begin with or very old. You can corrupt/delete some files, but the crucial system files are usually protected against this and it's something that's quickly reversible as you can restore OS files (in case you somehow manage to destroy them). What would be damaging is when you would corrupt (rewrite, not just delete - deleted files can be somewhat successfully restored as they're not physically deleted, just sort of marked that they can be overwritten.) user's files (which are usually way more important than the system itself) and he/she doesn't have a backup to restore them. However, that's hardly destroying the system itself and damaged/corrupted system can be restored, so no, you really can't irreversibly destroy it and it sounds quite ridiculous.

RE: Destructive Batches #12
If you just read the last paragraph of my post you would get answer to your question.

You can't corrupt it permanently, because it is often restored using an installation media or can be just reinstalled again. What you can corrupt is user data, assuming he doesn't have any backups in the same system, otherwise he can restore these data as well, so corruption won't be permanent.

Technically, you might try exploit some hardware weaknesses in order to corrupt it, for example by trying to change voltage of the processor core to make it overheat, but today, many processors would just shut down, once they reach certain temperature, in order to protect themselves, it is a hardware fail-safe over which software doesn't have any control.

Maybe you could corrupt an SSD or Flash drive by constantly writing new data to it, because they have a limited amount of rewrites, because the memory cells wear off (writing basically forces a bunch of electrons from one layer to another trough an non-conductive layer using high voltage (relatively high), so it's a bit "rough" and it gets damaged a little by every change), however the hardware itself contains some mechanisms to reduce this damage called wear-leveling, so it could also take a while to destroy it that way.

One thing that I can think of that could be really annoying (but still being restorable) is flashing BIOS with gibberish data, so the computer won't boot. However, this can be restored by either re-flashing the BIOS (either using safety mechanisms such as Dual BIOS or a special device) or changing the motherboard.

Simply put, hardware nowadays has a lot of fail-safe mechanisms to prevent damage, over which software has no control, so it's not generally possible to destroy something permanently by software, not to mention that there's a little reason to do so. Today, malicious software does usually something that makes it useful for its creators, which usually involves earning money.

Not to mention, user data usually have way more value than the OS and hardware itself.

This is a ridiculous thread. Use the search button please.

Also, nothing illegal and I imagine you don't want to destroy you own computer...means illegal activity.
