I've always wanted to be able to get desktop notifications from SL, they aren't intrusive, and are generally a bubble in the top right corner of your screen.

They are also not hard to implement in JS. There's a notification API (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs...tification), and there's also web workers (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs...orkers_API)

However, not only is it easy to implement, but it has already been done: https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=561

If people don't like them, they can always specifically enable/disable them through UserCP or something.

I think @"Ender" means notifications just for things like replies to threads, likes on replies/threads, quotes, etc... Not a notification everytime that someone makes a post/thread.
