Design your own interpreter #1
I've always been interested in how interpreted languages (Python, PHP, and especially Perl and Ruby with their extremely open syntax) are processed and executed, and I've wanted to design my own since I got a decent grasp on code structure.

I decided to finally do some digging and came up with a presentation from Golden Gate Ruby Conference 2013 that outlines how to write an interpreter in Ruby with a few gems to help you along the way. Enjoy!

It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

Using the gems he talked about it's not a difficult task, but if you build your own parsers it becomes more of a challenge.

Dang, I was looking for this a few years back and while I found some stuff it was nothing even remotely practical. Thanks for the share Ao!
