You miss the point. While there may be advanced techniques, the core gameplay of smash bros remains the same. Wide, open areas, with launching. No specials (a final smash is luck mostly) Now take close a look at this:
Its very different. You want to stay in range, counter, combo break, and build your heat gauge for specials and power ups. Its not unlike a game of chess.

Actually, I used to play alot. Played Smash, Melee, and Smash Bros for Wii and Smash 4. Even played in a tournement or two. Was fairly decent. But simply put, its never been a fighting game. A brawler, yes, prob closer to golden axe or battletoads, but its very different from games like street fighter.

Its much closer than you think. Slower gameplay, the goal is to use simple repeated attacks to launch or defeat enemies. The levels often have gimmicks too.
