China Social Credit System in 2020 #1
What do you guys think about this initiative that will start in 2020? I think it's the worst idea there is.
Chinese people will get a "score" and if this score is really low they won't be able to go to good schools, get jobs,...

For those who don't know what China Social Credit System (CSCS) is :
Spoiler:
China’s social credit system, a big-data system for monitoring and shaping business and citizens’ behaviour, is reaching beyond China’s borders to impact foreign companies, according to new research.

People with low scores can be banned or blacklisted from accessing services including flights and train travel; while those with high scores can access privileges. The Chinese government aims to have all 1.35 billion of its citizens subject to the system by 2020.

In my view, terrible.

I wonder If they'll do the same with those In a governmental role. I'm sure not everyone will have an acceptable score.

It's a bad idea because students for example while at uni they get into debt (some) from student loans to take out credit cards and it can take a little while to get out of it.

This Is going to the extreme:

"Train travel?". Ridiculous to say the least.

What is the incentive for people to get onto this it's really turning into a black mirror episode at this point.

The black list system is already in place in terms of international travel after the number of incidents with chinese tourists desecrating world heritage sites and defecating in random places. Where I used to live, someone pulled their pants and laid one on the platform of a train station. Sober.

Its also blacklisting Chinese tourists who misbehave overseas and tour agencies who do not make their charges fall in line. At the airport I used to work at, we had Chinese tour groups pass through customs like a herd of wildebeests on the charge. Won't listen, won't comply with anyones regulations other than their own pushing everyone and everything out of their way.

All this nonsense went down after their passport blacklist system came into effect.

Them now migrating it to a intra-China system is probably to get the population to conform to societal standards of the rest of the world. Considering they trashed Shanghai Disneyland even before it opened, there's definitely more incidents within China that have not been publicized outside of the country.

Yes, there is also the political side whereby its used a population control to keep people toeing the party line, and thats a key element in this as well, but based on experience, they won't listen to bring themselves out of the village mindset unless theres a blacklist system in force.

Its definitely going to be a malicious thing but it will be interesting. Gives me reason to want to go over to China for a trip before 2020. it should be interesting and come back after to see how their social economy has changed first hand.
