China Bans Chip Exports to Russia #1
China has banned chip exports to Russia, following moves from U.S. chip companies. Russia has the potential to fall behind technologically if things persist.

Quote:The latest impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine came yesterday when according to a Russian publication, China decided to ban all exports of its indigenous processors to Russia. This alleged decision comes after U.S. chip companies, including Advanced Micro Devices, Inc (AMD), Intel Corporation and NVIDIA Corporation, halted their sales in Russia after American sanctions against the country. The Ukraine invasion has seen Russia struggle to meet its semiconductor requirements. Still, officials interviewed by the publication responsible for today's report downplayed the Chinese decision stating that projects that plan to use the processors are yet to start.

China's Loongson Processors Deemed Suitable For Russian Needs - Still Remain Inferior To American Products

In the immediate aftermath of the invasion this year, the U.S. government responded to Russia's aggression in the form of strong sanctions that prevented the flow of technology to the country if the products were to be used by either the Russian government, its military or any entities associated with the two. These sanctions were followed by numerous others later on, which targeted the Chinese semiconductor industry. These included blanket measures that will prevent employees of American companies and those with U.S. citizenship from working in China, as they aim to prevent the use of artificial intelligence by the Chinese military to counter American national interests.

I think we're going to see a point in time where India is going to become the next Country to get big in the Chip game. They play nicely with everyone (Except Pakistan) and have the resources and people to get manufacturing done.

Do you think India would be interested in supplying Russia? I didn't think they were on good terms, but I'm not particularly knowledgeable with geopolitics.

It's interesting how trade can be used as such an effective tool in incidents like this. Sometimes a trade agreement/ruling is more effective than soldiers. And sometimes not.

Russia is gonna have a hard time manufacturing anything high-tech for the coming ages. Probably some chips will enter the country but at a premium and probably some low-binned ones too..

Why is everyone mentioning India? The one thing I know about them is for Indian tech support scammers and tea. That's it. Also, as far as I know, they support Russia and don't have a firm opinion about war in Ukraine. For example: if you see a Russian video with Putin or something similar, there are like not one or not two Indians saying something "I support RU and his leader....". No wonder they are brain dead and work at such places as Amazon for as little pay. If you really want to know who could change the game, it's Lithuania, if you didn't hear the news yet. Taiwan is investing in chip making and sharing their technology with Lithuania, it's estimated that by 2027 they will launch domestic semiconductor production.
I don't believe in what I say. Everything is just fictional and made for a good laugh.

I don't answer PM.

India is sort of a super power I think, maybe that's why. I agree though, it's not apples to oranges when you talk about alliances.

Yeah, sort of. But I don't see much news or even any that says, oh India did that and that or something that was valuable and made a difference in the world.

That's fair. Even for me in we barely hear what the Indians are doing but they are the tech heads when it comes to design, IT and software engineering.
However on the news these days it's all about the alliance between Russia and China.
