Cannot sleep anxiety/stress #1
Hi there,
So for the last couple of months..well year I have not been able to sleep. I literally am exhausted as I write this...but can not sleep. I've tried everything. Cutting out caffeine early on in the day, music, yoga, exercising and the list goes on. I have a lot of stress in my life right now but earlier this year (late 2011) I had no stress to little stress. I haven't been able to sleep properly for a long time. I never get a good sleep, doesn't matter what time I go to bed....where I sleep, how long I sleep..nothing.

My mom is undergoing chemo treatments for non small cell lung cancer which she is the last stage of cancer (which means its at its peak) and there doing the best the can for her at this point. That is stressful but I don't associate this stress with not sleeping as it has been going on for quite some time.

I am going to my doctor on the 29th of this month to figure this out. It's interfering with every part of my life. its 3:18 am where I am and I am getting sick of seeing the sun set and rise for so many days. I have been up for now 79 hours with no sleep....any advice?

I could lay down and be wide awake...although mentally and physically exhausted.

The most extreme bit is to take sleeping pills, but you will quickly become addicted since you won't be able to sleep again without them, so I don't recommend it. Have you tried listening to very very soothing music? Don't do anything for a day and just listen to that in bed. Make sure you aren't too hot or cold, and think of nothing. I tried something like this before when I had stress.

79 hours is serious you should consult a doctor immediatly before it gets any more serious.
You may actually need to take some sleeping pills, they may be a bit addictive but with the right amount as prescribted by the Doc should help you somewhat. There is also a chance you may need some... mental counseling, who knows.
Personally i suggest you listen to RainyMoods *google it* and sit down for a bit and *delete* all of your thoughts.

When you have anxiety or stress, it's because you are worrying about the past or the future. You are not enjoying the present moment. Read a book called "The Power of Now". It explains in detail how to find inner piece by staying in the present moment. The book completely changed my life.

Not trying to be a bad influence or anything, but if your job does not drug test...try smoking a little weed before you want to lay down, should put you right to sleep.

I use that only after my drug test, I cannot as of now.

I read the book myself. I use to suffer from anxiety too, until I started applying the teachings in that book to my life. Turned my life around.
