Quote:""Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we’re not resting on our laurels. We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we’re building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players. We can’t wait to share them with our community."

Congrats to @InfinityWard on #CODGhosts! Our team is heads down on our next project, but best wishes to the hardworking team at IW!
Last year, a Sledgehammer job ad calling for a senior FX artist to create real-time effects for "the next Call of Duty game" suggested that the studio wouldn't be leaving the franchise.
Sledgehammer also worked on a canned third-person Call of Duty spin-off before being pulled in to work on Modern Warfare 3.

Those who pre-order the game on Xbox 360 or PS3 will be sent a code for a CoD: Ghosts weapon camo for use in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, which must be redeemed before July 1.

"Call of Duty fans are eagerly anticipating the annual release of the franchise, which seems to focus on a group of soldiers known as "Ghosts." In recent weeks, the existence of the game as well as its presence at Microsoft's May 21st Xbox reveal have been confirmed. Now, a Twitter user claims to have taken some shots of these images, but the characters depicted don't have much context.
One thing we do know based on the images is that the game will feature so many masks. Follow the source links below to see a bunch of angry, dirty dudes with masks. If you want to see more substantial assets from the November 5 multiplatform release, you'll want to check back on our site after the Microsoft event on the 21st. In advance of that, we decided to put our own thoughts together on what Infinity Ward and Activision can do to keep the series fresh.

Quote:"A teaser for Call of Duty: Ghosts shows work-in-progress footage and promises new details later this week.
Released via video social media platform Vine, the five second video (embedded below) shows several brief, in-progress grabs from the game, and the promise of live footage at the new generation Xbox reveal on May 21.
This promise comes despite hints from a Microsoft exec that Tuesday's Xbox reveal will focus solely on the console, with specific titles to be shown at E3 on June 10.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will release November 5 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and is also in development for next-generation consoles. The Infinity Ward developed title will be powered by a new, next-generation Call of Duty engine.
According to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, "Ghosts delivers an all-new story, all-new characters, an all-new Call of Duty world, all powered by a next generation Call of Duty engine, which is a leap forward for the franchise"

Quote:"Infinity Ward has released the first proper Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer, and a 'behind the scenes' video which offers a good look at the new game's visuals and new gameplay mechanics.
The game was debuted at Microsoft's Xbox One reveal event moments ago with the two videos below.
They offer fleeting glimpses of the game in action, as well as confirm new gameplay mechanics including leaning around corners and a slide-and-shoot mechanic.
Oscar-winning writer Stephen Gaghan, whose previous works include 'Traffic' and 'Syriana', worked in the new story for the game, which promises to have "a cast of characters that you really [feel] more emotionally attached to".
"America is crippled, our military forces are devastated, our government's in disarray and as the player, you are actually the underdog, fighting back against these superior forces," as part of a "super elite fighting force".
An attack dog appears to play an important role in the campaign as a part of your squad, sniffing out explosives or protecting the team.
Multiplayer will be "revamped" with 'dynamic maps', which will feature environmental events like earthquakes and floods, and player-driven actions such as explosive traps and interactive doors - "things that change the flow of the map".

I don't really like the 'typical' FPS games, I prefer ones with other elements to them; like Bioshock, The Darkness, Fallout, etc.
