Business networking closet - 1 #1
So, over the last few weeks, I've been in the process of upgrading the networking setup in my back room office. I use this office as both an actual office for my wife and I, as well as a server room, housing the VM, web, DB, DC, etc servers I use for my business. I'm not going to share what my prior setup was like, but as you can probably imagine it was a bunch of tiny little routers and switches with rats nests everywhere. I just finished doing all the initial configuration of everything, running a network test, and then doing cable management. I want to hear your thoughts.

Equipment (from top left to bottom right)
Top Shelf:
Intel NAS array (4 1TB drives in RAID10)
DVR (for security cameras around and outside of the house)
Box of cat6 cable

Middle shelf
Linksys CM3024 DOCSIS3.0 24x8 modem (max throughput 300Mbps)
Cisco 2911/K9 router

Bottom shelf
Cisco 2960 L2 switch
Cisco 3750G L3 switch (with SFP+ cards)

Prior to cable managing it

Neat setup.

Good choice with RAID 10, particularly with high-end performance. How do you find It's scalability?

Looks pretty good. Not bad cable management even in the first image. Good looking setup and some nice switches you have there.

Looks pretty cool mate. I can't wait for the day when I can start setting up something like this.

I went with 10 solely for the performance. I'd like to have gone with RAID50, but this box doesn't have enough disks Sad

What's stopping you? In the end I only spent about $500 on the networking stuff and only a few hundred on the others

Edit:

Also, to anybody who understands how this stuff works better than I do, If you help me get the port forwarding stuff working, I'll pay you. @Skullmeat?

My net worth right now is about $40 and I have yet to find a job, so that's the main reason.

my net worth is about the same too, unless you count assets based on what their value to me. It took me about a year to do the whole conversion
