Really depends on what you are going to record. For general recording on your desktop/web you should use Camtasia Studio, however if you are going to record gaming you might want to use another recording program.

Bandicam is great for recording video games because of how you can choose different video codecs to be either compressed or uncompressed. It does have the option to just record a window (like, you choose an area to record), or just record your whole screen.
I've used Bandicam for quite some time, and while it has some issues, their forum is really helpful when it comes to request, bug reports etc.
On the other hand, it's only good for video games that run fullscreen, I have to agree with others that Camtasia is a lot better for video tutorials for software/other.
