I have a spare netbook that has 1 GB RAM and 1.2GHZ. Haven't used it for 13 years.

I'm going to install Linux on it, however, what would be best for low resource use, and help make it work efficiently ( Lags Alot )

Not going to be doing a whole lot of cracking or anything, just normal daily use.

If you wish to run the Windows platform and given your specs are mediocre, a tool named WinReducer allows you to strip the OS by removing an array of components, features etc.

Simply put, the OS can run on systems with minimal specs.

You should upgrade it. 120GB SSDs are pretty cheap and having 4GB of RAM would be enough for basic usage.

It doesn't have any open slots, and isn't interchangeable.
& I want Linux, cuz there are several versions, like Puppy Linux, Mint Linux, etc. just want to know what's the best one.

I use linux mint for some hosting on my small pc and its pretty good.

Lubuntu! Defo. Have used it many times on old desktops, works great! the lxde desktop uses about 26MB memory and virtually no CPU. Test it from a live usb you won't be disappointed

Thank you for all your suggestions. I'm using Damn Small Linux, and it's working REALLY well. Definitely right choice.

@Num5kull thank you for letting me know about Lubuntu. Hadn't heard of it, not sure how, but I put it on a USB, and it's great. Going to use it for travel, and on my Android.
