Are you any good at cooking? 05-12-2017, 10:54 AM

I'm learning cooking since I'm about to be a university freshman. It's alright, but so far I can just make basic stuff (rice, pasta, maybe a simple sauce) so I wondered how other people around my age fare with cooking. Or if you're older, how good you were back in your college days.

I can cook simple meals, nothing more.
I only need to cook myself when my partner isn't home which is rarely, and when she does go out I'll grab a pizza or something.
'You can't just have your characters announce how they feel, that makes me feel angry!

As with @"Aeolian", I only make basic meals, just enough to get me by.
The thing with cooking a massive meal, Is that It can take hours to make and only minutes to eat. If you can buy It ready-made, It's hardly worth the effort making It yourself.

I'm pretty good at it actually.
But even though I am good at it, I don't cook often.

I'd like to say I'm pretty good at cooking, but I only ever cook for friends - they're usually on something though so I can't say if their opinion is all that accurate...

I often say I'm trash at anything culinary (I am compared to my dad and stepmom), but I'm alright.
My specialty is my dad's okonomiyaki recipe he got when he lived in the Kansai region in Japan.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

In college, know the feel (and i really suck at cooking).
I can cook Rice, Chicken, and eggs pretty effectively. If you can do that, you'll probably go a pretty long way. There are a million different ways to prepare rice and chicken. I pretty much live off of it.
Getting a rice cooker helps a ton (drop the rice in, put in the right amount of water, set and forget). Chicken can be grilled, breaded, basted, oven-cooked, marinated, you name it. Just look up "Chicken recipe" on Google and you get a mil diff results.
I also like to get easy to make stuff. Rice Noodles are the shit, soy sauce is fucking amazing, etc etc. I really don't like spending too much time cooking, though. So sometimes i just drink soylent.
TL;DR I suck at cooking, but the trick is to get really really good at cooking something simple, and figuring out the varieties thereof. (Find a staple you like, and start from there)

I can't cook. I normally just leave it up to someone else in the house. I just eat microwave food or order something if no one else is home.
