Appple vs. Samsung #1
Quote:The CEOs of Apple (AAPL) and Samsung will try one more time to settle their global patent feud before clashing in another federal court trial in March, according to court papers the two tech titans filed late Wednesday.

Prompted by the entreaties of U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh that they settle, Apple and Samsung have agreed upon an undisclosed mediator to conduct the settlement talks by Feb. 19. The filing indicates that Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Oh-Hyun Kwan will participate, along with three or four in-house lawyers from the rival companies.

The settlement talks will take place as Apple and Samsung barrel toward a second trial that involves Apple's claims that the South Korean tech power copied technology from the newer lines of iPhones and iPads, such as the iPhone 5, in Samsung's increasingly popular smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy brand. The second trial is scheduled to begin March 31.

Apple won the first trial, securing more than $930 million in damages after a jury in August 2012 concluded Samsung had violated the Cupertino company's patent and trademark rights in older versions of smartphones and tablets. As a result of a favorable federal appeals court ruling late last year, Apple is poised to obtain a permanent injunction against nearly two dozen of those Samsung products, although few are left on the market in the United States.

Koh has repeatedly urged the two companies to settle their differences, but to no avail. The two CEOs tried before the first trial but failed to reach agreement. Most patent cases, particularly between such high-powered companies, tend to settle, but that has not been the case with the world's leading smartphone and tablet competitors.

Between the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the HTC One, I like the HTC One. I love Samsung products, but right now, I love my HTC One a lot more.

Yes. I forgot to mention it. I've used those too, but not like I have the SIII. I love Samsung phones a lot, don't get me wrong, but I like HTC better right now. HTC One is the best phone I've had. #AndroidMasterRace

I have a Samsung Galaxy Discover, and I must say that I hope Samsung wins this. I looked at other articles in relation to this long song and dance these two powerhouses have been going through, and it’s really just toddler’s mentality over minor things.

I mean, at some point in technology’s advancement, these corporations will have to derive from a lot of fundamentals to stay on top of their game and satisfy their consumer base. Now things like how phones are being swiped to be unlocked, or even how keyboards are formatted are having corporations hammering down lawsuits over copyright and patents that it’s really crazy!

Even though Cook from Apple is aiming for a neutrality and establishing “settlements,” I highly doubt that will occur, and there most likely will be some big news in the future about this clash. And I feel that this is far away from the end of any future disputes between these two.

I used to like Samsung, but until I have found out that it's prone to break very easily. Plus, Samsung phones tend to become slow over time, which I have the Samsung Note 3. I have noticed that it lags more as I use it more because I have had it for only two weeks. I have the same problems with my previous Samsung phones. Apple, on the other hand, makes very good software and all. However, the IOS 7 is the reason I didn't go for the IPhone. I now have a Blackberry smartphone, which it rocks all the way!
