The tool of choice for beautiful illustrations
Used by professionals the world over as their go-to tool for vector illustration, Affinity Designer continues to raise the bar for creative software. Precise control over curves, eye-popping colours and blistering performance ensure stunning results every time.

Dazzling colours
Colour is at the heart of your design, and Affinity Designer delivers in droves. With support for all major formats, ICC profiles and the latest wide gamut displays you know your designs will pop. And with silky smooth gradients which always update live on your page, the control you have is limitless.

Precise curves
The fundamentals of crafting curves are covered expertly with the precision-engineered pen tool − and in combination with intuitive modifiers it’s the workhorse of everything you create. Swapping to the node or live corner tool allows you to re-sculpt, hone and adjust to perfection.

[Image: precise-curves@2x-311020171431--desk.jpg]

Flawless geometry
It’s hard to describe the joy you will feel in using the fully customisable live shapes in Affinity Designer. Not only are they incredibly fluid to adapt, we’ve added automatic snapping points to ensure spot-on geometry with everything you do.

[Image: flawless-geometry@2x-021120170819--desk.jpg]

Brush stabilisation
An amazing addition, the rope and window stabilisers allow you to produce the smoothest, most accurate curves you ever thought possible – all using freehand pencil and brush tools.
  • Rope stabiliser
  • Window stabiliser

Non-destructive operations
Naturally you can combine shapes using Boolean operations, but to do it non-destructively so you can still move and edit the component parts? That gives you some serious power not found in other apps.
  • Add
  • Intersect
  • Combine
  • Subtract
  • Divide

Text to impress
Whether working with artistic text for headlines, or frames of text for body copy, you can add sophisticated styling and ligatures with full control over leading, kerning, tracking and more.

At any time convert your text to curves to take full control and produce your own exquisite, custom typography to add serious impact.

Vector meets pixel in one harmonious workflow
One of the most powerful aspects of Affinity Designer is the ability to instantly switch into a pixel environment. Paint with raster brushes to add texture, add masks, make pixel selections, even add non-destructive adjustment layers. All without ever having to leave the app.
  • Adjustment layers
  • Mask layers
  • Blend modes
  • Raster brushes

Accuracy is king
You aim for excellence, and in vector world that means 100% accurate designs every time. Affinity Designer gives you the confidence to create freely, all the while producing error free work.

One million+ percent zoom
You read that right. The power available under the hood is monumental. Yes that means incredible speed, real time adjustments and super smooth panning. But never is it more apparent than when you zoom. And then zoom some more… you can just keep going!

Advanced grids
The options you have for setting up grids is almost unlimited. Whether it’s a standard grid pattern, or full isometric with multiple planes, you have full control over spacing, sub divisions, gutters, angles and more.

[Image: advanced-grids@2x-311020171509--desk.jpg]

Precision guides and snapping
Laying your designs out has never been easier with fully flexible guides and snapping options. You decide what you want to snap to, while seeing on-screen alignment guides and measurements − all updating live as you move or transform your objects.

[Image: precision-guides@2x-311020171515--desk.jpg]

Split screen and outline views
A simple keystroke will have you viewing your design as a complete wireframe, or even as a split screen if you wish. It’s the best way to see all the elements across all layers in your project, and adds a new level of efficiency to selecting the right target object every time.

Full optimisation for UI, websites and app design
If designing beautiful screens is your thing then Affinity Designer has an incredible feature set for that too. And when working on UI, UX or web mock up projects there’s nothing better than to know you have the toolset of a full blown professional graphic design application backing you up.

Live pixel preview
Pixel perfect designs are assured by viewing your work in pixel preview mode. This allows you to view vectors in both standard and retina resolution, giving you a completely live view of how every element of your design will export.

[Image: live-pixel-preview@2x-311020171519--desk.jpg]

Dynamic symbols
Symbols allow you to include unlimited instances of the same base object across your project. Edit one, and the rest update instantly. It’s easy to create multiple versions of symbols with some attributes detached, or even have symbols within symbols to allow some really innovative ways to speed up your workflow.

[Image: dynamic-symbols@2x-311020171522--desk.jpg]

Designs that respond
In Affinity Designer you are not restricted to set absolute positions and sizes for objects − you can make these attributes relative to the artboard or container which they are in. This means you can design in a responsive way, with items moving and scaling automatically for different device sizes.

[Image: designs-that-respond@2x-311020171525--desk.jpg]

Artboards with no limits
Layout all your screens, pages, menus and other items in a single project across an unlimited number of artboards. You’re backed by the most advanced memory management system available, so no matter how big and complex you get it will never compromise performance.

[Image: unlimited-artboards@2x-031120170944--desk.jpg]

[Image: professional-output@2x-021120170920--desk.jpg]

Professional output for print, screen or collaboration
Advanced file support is at the core of the back-end technology behind Affinity Designer. All the major image and vector file types are supported, including full layered PSD support, so whether you’re directly outputting for print, for the web or transferring between other apps it’s got you covered.

CMYK and spot colour for professional print
Pantone support, end-to-end CMYK and ICC colour management are just part of it. You can also open, edit and output PDF/X files, set overprint controls, use spot colours, and add bleed, trim and crop marks for press ready output.

[Image: professional-print@2x-311020171445--desk.jpg]

Slice things up for UI, web and game design
Any number of objects, artboards, icons, buttons, logos, layers – or indeed just any drawn areas of your work − can all be exported with a single click in whatever resolutions and file formats you wish. You can even specify different folder locations for different elements in the same document, as well as automatically generate Xcode assets and Spine JSON from your designs if that’s your thing.

I've heard from around here that Affinity software is more beginner-friendly too so having cracked these might finally convince me to get started in graphics design. Haven't been in touch with my creative side in a long while so I think it's time I reconnect and reacquaint with my past life.  Sleepy2

Yes It sounds like a good Idea to start with Affinity, familiarize yourself with designing and then move onto the likes of Photoshop/Illustrator.

I moved to Illustrator, but then moved back.
It's easier to get things done in Affinity, and it takes more time in Illustrator.

Yep, but I should learn some theory behind art and design, terminology, etc. first before I get right into learning the software itself. I'll have a look around the forum and see if I can find some nice resources. Then I'll start looking into specific tutorials for Affinity. I wonder if any Photoshop tutorials can be carried over to Affinity?

I haven't personally used Illustrator, but I continually view the results from the designers at my work and they're quite Impressive.

From your standpoint, In terms of the end result, what's the comparison between the two?

Illustrator has a bit more features, but it's annoying to use them ssometimes. Affinity gets out of your way an lets you do what you want.

The end results are usually the same. I've only made a single logo in Illustrator that I couldn't get right in Affinity, most are replicatable.

It seems like a case of familiarity with Illustrator.

I'll make an effort to sit with one of the designers (at work) during my break, and see how they navigate their way around Illustrator. I appreciate your reply.
