RE: A wild thought #11
I must admit jacob, you have a very good knowledge.. I get lost into this world of science whenever I think about time and space. All the interesting theories, proofs, facts, etc., they are beautiful to think about and debating and discussing about them is awesome..

Thank you Smile
That actually made me smile...and i still am smiling Smile

I agree, which is why i delve so deeply into the wonders of the universe. Its mind boggling, and by nature im a curious person...its drives my girlfriend insane, so much that she's starting to be curious about EVERYTHING.

I just want to know more and more about things i find interesting. Honestly, i would give up my deep knowledge of computers, and my love for skateboarding, to be able to explore deeper into ideas of space and science.

RE: A wild thought #13
looks like wikipedia has more information than documentaries do.

Probably your girl is just more curious to know everything about you..:-D
Even I would have given up learning everything else if I got a chance of going deeper into this matter..

Oh she knows ALLL about me Wink

baha, back on topic.

its a really good subject to ponder upon. Many questions, humans love questions.

RE: A wild thought #16
Similar questions that sets my thoughts wondering space is existence of aliens, how was life created from scratch, etc. Its all mysteries of universe and nature humans try to explore. The more we know about them, the more beautiful this universe seems to be..

RE: A wild thought #17
Yeah I accept Jacob knows a lot.Truly this thread enhanced my knowledge.

RE: A wild thought #18
It would be impossible to change the past though we could view it (seems impossible now, but maybe possible in future). If someone did change the past in someway or the other, it would make our present uncertain. An uncertain present is really hard to imagine. About travelling to future, that's always possible. We all travel towards future at a slow pace as we grow in age. The thing we are interested in is how to speed up or slow down this process. Time is like a river. At some places it flows faster, while in some places it flows slower. It is a simple theory (I honestly don't know how it was proved) that the time around a particle of high mass moves slow in time. A simple demonstration of it can be seen on our earth itself. If we stand near a pyramid, we'll observe the activities going on away from pyramid slightly faster. That is the place where the theory of slow time around black hole originates. Black hole has very high mass and it can throw us slow in time considerably if we manage to revolve around it surpassing its super high gravity..

(10-20-2011, 07:36 AM)Jacob Wrote: ahhh, here i go.....again, how time travel into the past isn't possible...

Because of time and space, and the laws behind it, time travel into the past is not possible, although time travel into the future is. Yet its a slow process, as traveling even 50 years into the future is a time, energy, and money consuming endeavor which is only undertaken by few.

Since time and space, are contiguous one cannot be bent without an affect on the other, and with these laws in place, we cannot bend either of these....since they are he laws that are, and do make up the universe itself.

Which is where black holes come in, black holes, are what we think, to be like an odd dimension, a loophole in the space and time laws. Yet, anything that goes near a black hole or gets trapped in its gravitational pull is, as we obviously, yet most likely poorly assume, destroyed. Yet none really know what is behind a black hole, what is on the other side, where it may be a "worm hole" which in comics and fairytales are used to travel great distances in little time, or in turn....time travel.

Long story short.....read that ^, watch some documentaries(i have over 600 hours of documentaries logged into my brain, just on space alone.), and google.

Sorry Jacob, but you actually can bend space. Look for some super string theory or theory M.

Bending space is the idea behind so called warp engine, basically a "wave" is made in the space and the space ship can move very fast on this wave. Something like surfing..
