When I first heard of this story I was really surprised, I mean what did they think was going to happen, were they just hoping for the best. Now this girl is scared for life and needs to deal with the fact that she has shot someone.

I mean I get Americans don't see anything wrong with guns, but why would you let a child use an uzi? I couldn't even imagine letting a child use a pistol, but if they absolutely *had* to be using a gun at that age they should at least be using something they can physically handle.

Or maybe start with blanks until they get the feel of it? I don't know if blanks have the same recoil though...

Yeah, blanks have almost no recoil...BTW, that's why in movies when the actors fire guns they're held perfectly still. A .22 rifle or maybe pistol is the best first weapon for a child...or anyone for that matter. But not a full auto one. Sigh

Maybe they need some kind of "gun simulator" for training purposes with full force feedback. Just so people can get the feel of the recoil before trying the real thing.

Shouldn't be that hard to design, and could maybe save future lives.

It's a bad situation all around. He should have put perhaps three rounds into a mag and let her shoot that first and slowly gain competence with the weapon.
