So this is my warning to people looking for jobs out there. I work in a restaurant, and it sucks. I hate my life. blah..
Anyway... Here's my list of reasons why you should never work at a restaurant. (written by me)
1) You're boss will most likely be an asshole.
2) It is considered the second most depressing job to have.

3) You will smell. Depending on where you work, you may smell like:
-Fish (I work at Boston Seafood, so this is what I smell like)
-Onions
-Dough
-Bleach (if you dish wash)
-Trash... don't ask, it happens sometimes..
4) You're clothes will be ruined. So don't wear good clothes. I usually don't, but today I had to look decent because I had to cater. Yet, when we got back to the restaurant, guess who had to wash 3 grills and ruin their clothes with grease..?
5) Dish-washing sucks. You might as well wear a bathing suit, because you'll likely get soaked. And I don't mean running dishes through a washer. I mean scrubbing pots and pans and broiler pans and everything else the cooks use..
6) You will lose your self esteem. There is always someone who is higher than you CONSTANTLY giving you orders on what to do next.
7) Waitress pressure. I'm that guy who has to put the veggies on the plate, the fries, get the soups, etc... Waitresses are always asking you to get it, to hurry up, people are waiting! Always nice to constantly get yelled at by them...
8) Cooks/Chefs pressure. They always want you to get the food out fast, make sure it's not cold, do other things besides sending the food out (like switching over sauce, or refilling stuff...sound easy? Try refilling the coleslaw while you have a food rush..)
9) Cameras In The Kitchen. The boss is ALWAYS watching you... one little screw up can cost you your job..
10) Not being allowed to Eat ANYTHING. And like I said above, there's cameras. So you can't sneak anything...
11) Late night shifts. You'll be stuck in that restaurant cleaning and switching food over to plastic containers for an hour or two. Well, there goes my comfortable evening of xbox/GF/movies with friends...
12) Early morning shift (Prep shift) Waking Up early sucks anyway. Sucks even more to wake up early and go make some cornbread, chop onions, and grate 10 pounds of cheese...
13) Catering. It just sucks... you can be stuck at some place all day. Then you have a nice shit ton of dishes to do. And let's not forget to mention.. the leftover food? You toss it. Yay.
14) Everything is Hot. If you're prone to leaning against something, a kitchen is not for you. I have been burnt by man thing.. Hot cornbread pan, hot baked potato pan, steam table, oven...
15) No Air Conditioning. Can't risk making the food cold. So enjoy the summer in a nice, boiling hot kitchen.
16) You Can't Take Vacations. Maybe some restaurants, but not at a popular booming one. You will likely piss off the boss for even asking, and/or get fired.
17) Distance With Friends (Depression, Anti-Social). You'll become distant with friends since you work to much to see you. This will hence forth lead to depression.
18) Can't Plan Anything. You never know what your shift will be so...
19) May (In some cases) Contemplate Suicide. You might be standing there in a kitchen for hours after being screamed at so you might just stare at that knife in front of you and wonder why you haven't slit your throat yet...
20) Can't Text/Use Any Electronics (No music:cry . No music.. like I just said. Thought I'd repeat to get that one through your mind.. No saying hi to your friends. No checking that facebook notification that you'll likely won't have because you have no friends anymore cause you work at a restaurant....(unless that notification is like a spam invite to some stupid game..)
And so yeah. There's my 20 reasons you should never work at a restaurant. Don't consider it. Don't do it. Don't. Please.
