I'd say If the situation was reversed, you'd have a different viewpoint.

100% true. the first few years for me, i pwned anything i could even if it was just sending a ascii dick pic to a printer (uh which i still do in waiting rooms btw, its hilarious) but i have also be pwned myself, which is why my identity (sunjester) has been exposed. if you dont know my real name, we probably arent in the same circle Smile

i think the satisfaction is different for everyone, if you like pwning people who are unsuspected, thats cool, i dig it, but just dont cry when they (we) get you too. my satisfaction comes from owning the pwners.

You've nailed It here:

Whether It's social engineering or via technical gateways, I've never targeted anyone on a personal level. And I've been In the scene for a lot longer than almost every member on this board.

Coincidently, I've just compromised an education department around an hour ago and although I had access to every student's personal Information, I didn't touch/edit a single detail.

I'm confused, that's literally the opposite of what you just said... xD

He either made the equivalent value of 290k GBP in ETH or didn't. 290k GBP in ETH isn't translatable as $200? (Well.. assuming it's still worth 290k, which is what I'm assuming you're getting at?)

Unless I've completely overlooked It, where Is It stated In the article?

It just says "Benyamin Ahmed is keeping his earnings in the form of Ethereum - the crypto-currency in which they were sold."

To me, that reads as he made the equivalent of 290k GBP. Yes the value may rise/fall, but at the time of payment, someone paid the equivalent of 290k GBPworth of currency.

That's precisely how I Interpreted It when I first read It.

At no point does It mention he was "paid In Ethereum".

Glad it's not just me on that one! It isn't the best article to be fair. I think I was just amused by the little whales.

And, while this is a stretch, there is the irony that video game players in a particular game genre who spend a lot of money on the game are referred to as "whales". There's something funny in some whales making a lot of money.
