LF Help - Laptop HDD Space Problem #1
So, outta nowhere recently, my girlfriend's mini notebook (which has 1tb HDD) randomly said there's no space. I checked partition manager, and it says it's only about 28 or 32gb on the free space.
This can't be right. I've searched many tutorials that look like exactly what I need, but nothing works.

It's only used for her to get on Facebook, so I have no idea what's going on.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't afford to pay, but if you get it working all the way and fixed, I can offer to get you something on Amazon up to $20.

Last. Please don't bother telling me to use google. I did. I'm not sure what to do.

If you'd like to try and help, either comment or msg me on here. If you prefer skype, just send me your skype name.

Could you tell the age of the laptop? Is it new, or bought from someone else?

It's weird because hard drives sometimes become RAW after some time, but diskpart doesn't show anything. Have you tried with a live linux OS? Something like ubuntu or something and than see if it pops up.

You can also do a S.M.A.R.T. test (to provide more information here to everyone).
Also, you can try to run "sfc /scannow" to try automatically repair your hard drive (I do not guarantuee this will work and this will take some time to complete.)

Man, I haven't taught myself near enough to understand all of that.

Where are you getting "1TB" of HDD capacity?

Judging by your screenshots, I can only see the following ("Capacity"):

* OS Drive: 28.18 GB
* USB Disk: (not relevant to the problem at hand).
* Recovery Partition: 681 MB
* EFI Partition: 260 MB

Diskpart shows much the same on the OS Drive.

That's my problem. It didn't always do this. But it has a 1TB HDD in it.

In Disk Management, right click Disk 0 and click Properties. Post here a screenshot of the resulting window, so we can see if it's a failing drive or something weird (perhaps an actual lower capacity drive.)

Here are some instructions

What capacity does the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) provide, namely the "System Information?". This Is quickly accessed by entering "msinfo32.exe" (no quotes) either In the Run menu or the Search bar within the OS. You'll find the HDD under "Storage".

The only sure way to check the HDD capacity, Is to boot Into the BIOS. Most HDDs are listed with the rest of the hardware components under "Main" (or some variant). When you get a moment, please check these and provide your findings.

Did you buy this from a trusted seller, because if you bought if from ebay for a cheap price it's possible that the capacity is spoofed (meaning your HDD would actually be 320GB or something instead of 1 TB.
