I've created this thread to explain my plans and answer questions about the forum's return.

"What happened to the site?"

If you don't know who I am, I ran Sinisterly for roughly 12-13 years. I sold the forum around 2024-2025. Under the new owner, it was shut down and remained offline for about a year. Whether it was due to neglect or abuse complaints, I happened to reacquire the domain for a very small amount at auction.

"What are your plans for the site?"

My goal is to bring back the site in a more sustainable form, preserve old content, and prevent misuse. Many forums have been shut down over the past five years. Registrar and legal crackdowns have become more common, which is likely why the domain went to auction. I've discussed some of my thoughts on this in the Discord and I'll probably make a thread later.

My plan is to allow freedom of speech and discussion that may otherwise be censored. However, the internet has changed, and there must be a balance.

"What happened to my account/posts?"

All posts, upgrades, and data through February 2025 are preserved. Only Private Messages and a couple of sections have been removed. If you joined after February 2025, you may need to re-register. I have spoken a decent amount with the previous owner since my return. I will try to honor upgrades and work with anyone who joined after February 2025. However, it will be on a case-by-case basis and I offer no guarantees. As always, my PMs are open.

We'll still allow most content, but I will continue to lead with the policies I had in place before I sold. My goal is for us to find a balance while remaining online. We will still be hosted offshore, but I will be stricter on certain content.

"What will Sinisterly 2.0 allow?"

I would like to see the forum focus on the positive things we've brought to the internet. I never liked the commercialization of data or fraud. Our rules against those things are likely why we remained online for so long.

Discussion of exploits and proof of concept will be allowed. Crime as a service will not be allowed.
