In all honesty, some of their cars are not bad looking, but I don't think electric cars are the way of the future. If someone's reason for owning one is "it's good for the environment" then I think they need to look again. The batteries in those cars are terrible for the environment, and are far more complicated to dispose of. These cars require electricity.. Which, unless it's generated with renewable energy, it is still harming the environment by running on electricity. Even if it is running on renewably generated electricity, it's not necessarily good for the environment then, as some renewable sources actually cause harm while being developed/manufactured, or impact the local environment where they're built.
All that aside, I think electric cars are about more than just the eco-side. There's real potential to change the driving experience (and I'm not talking about self-driving cars). Some of the fastest supercars in the world are currently electric, and they look like hell of a lot of fun.
tl;dr - Electric cars aren't as good for the environment as people think they are. However, that's not the only use for electric car tech - It could make cars more fun.
