Well for the most part Kali is based off of Debian, and Backtrack is indirectly based off of it since Ubuntu is based off of Debian. Considering that, you should learn the basics of Debian and how apt (Debian's package manager) works. You should also learn some general Bash, since it's the unofficial shell of any GNU/Linux distribution and is very helpful.

As for the unique tools of Kali (e.g Metasploit and Aircrack) their manuals will probably provide better documentation than individual members here, and they save everyones' time. Read them and if you have any questions try to figure them out by yourself, if you still can't find the answer then post them here.
