DDoSing alone is the skid option, honestly.
DDoS attacks aren't always made by script-kiddies. From an offensive stance, distributed denial of service attacks are generally used as a last resort. If there are no other holes in a site or server's security, it might be the best (or only) option. Usage of a botnet as a last resort doesn't necessarily make someone a script-kiddy, as there may be no other options. However, if someone is using a botnet as their primary means of attack, especially with little or no knowledge of how the attack works - then they are a script-kiddy.
I'm going to assume you agree, since you said "DDoSing alone" would make someone a skid.
Of course. DDoS as a last option or in conjunction with one or more different attacks is perfectly acceptable.
