Sometimes things go wrong in quality control. The manufacturer's response to a faulty product claim can give you an insight into a company you may not have otherwise got. I know I prefer particular brands now, purely because they provided good support when something went wrong. Others... Not so much, and I won't be purchasing from those companies again. You've made some very valid points.
Although we live In a world of human error and manufacturing/technological defects, from a consumer's standpoint, you'd simply like to get what you paid for. It's not difficult for companies to "measure twice and cut once" so to speak.
This is true. We also assume the company is more than capable of replacing a faulty product if it can't be fixed easily. Most companies operate knowing that is a basic expectation of their consumers.
