[Half-Life Source | Tutorial]: Using VTFEdit to edit textures 08-28-2020, 03:14 AM
#1
This tutorial is going to show how you can change textures of models in Half-Life Source
app by Neil Jedrzejewski & Ryan Gregg | Thanks to Valve Developer Union for hosting the download
Requirements:
- Half-Life Source
- VTFEdit (Download here | Direct Link)
- A picture editing software (example: Photoshop, PaintDotNet)
Converting VTF to & from <well-known-image-type>
For some entities (& most weapons, if not all), you will also need to edit their texture present in "hl1\materials\models\world_models\..." to have a different texture in the world itself, in hand, you normally want to open their texture present in "\hl1\materials\models\..." (atleast, this is how the crowbar works)
You normally want to keep the size of the texture the same!
