I just tried It by adding my username, and It returned precisely 256 combinations.

Every letter is another x2. So your username is 8 characters long so 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2 aka 2 to the 8th power = 256 Its pretty cool, especially when you need it haha, saved so much time!
