Many say that happiness cannot be bought for money, but for people who have been deprived of basic things for a long time because of poverty, this is nonsense. Give them money and they will buy a lot of happiness for themselves and only then they will be able to make happiness on their own.

The effects of money on happiness have been thoroughly studied and most studies show that there is a positive correlation for happiness with money up until around $80,000 a year (if memory serves correctly) however after that the returns are very minimal. The thought on it is that once your basic needs are met and you have a bit of extra income on top of that you have no more happiness to gain from money. Buying something brand new like a Lamborghini will give you a bunch of dopamine, but that isn't really true happiness.
