Since it's old news, I'd like to know if there are any updates/progress for this agency. I feel an organized effort towards cyber security, at a national level, ought to be a standard everywhere.

I feel like cyber security agency's should be as standardized as a police force. We can't nuke each other to death, it's all about data now...

This is true. I believe our fights aren't as simple as who can make the biggest boom/who can kill the most people.
