I'm not referring to your contribution, but rather a general statement.
The Registry Is known to corrupt even with legit entries- It's just the nature of It's hierarchical database. Given It's a critical part of the OS, precautionary measures Is paramount. An analogy Is when you perform Windows Updates, they're from the most reliable source being Microsoft, yet are renowned to corrupt your system at the best of times.
