MBAM covers a range of viruses, malware (obviously), trojans, spyware, worms and so forth and does It to the best of It's capacity.

Because of this, It's not classed as an AV per se, hence may miss (viruses) what an Antivirus will detect. For this reason, It can run alongside any AV and should be used as such by all users.
