It's entirely subjective. It's still seen as a career-limiting move by many, so I recommend hindsight if you are getting one. Lots of people regret them later, and they're easier to add than remove. If it's something you want, won't impact your salary, and it's an improvement to your body - more power to you. Sometimes tattoos can also be a mark of prestige or tell a story. I know multiple people that served our country and have Army/Marine tattoos. I also know people that got them in the spur of the moment and wish they hadn't.

Have you ever seen those tat cover up shows? Some of the stuff you see on there is truly horrific.


I've seen tats used in really beautiful ways so it really just depends on taste, how it will affect work-life and where on your body it is. I have professors who admitted to having approx 4 tattoos. None are visible in smart-wear for work. I would always recommend people wait until they're older to get them, though. Teen tattoos usually are some of the worst I've seen.
