Not sure if this applies to others, but I usually can learn whatever I need to learn in some languages when I need to use it if it's something basic enough.
For example, a while ago a friend asked me to write him something that ended up needing PHP, I didn't know PHP but I was able to pick up enough in a day to write what was needed.
Didn't work for C++ though, it works with simple languages.
Still, it is best to learn a few.
