Depends on your definition of "cure". Some people learn to live with their "weaknesses" or "downsides" and learn to use those to their advantages, that to them, is a form of "cure". It's a trait that limits people, sure, but it isn't all a bad thing. In the same sense that we all have things we are good and things we are bad at. That limits us, but it doesn't make it negative as whole, it allows us to focus and surpass others in a thing or more. Take the artist known as "Savant", a man born with "Savant Syndrome" which lead to him only really being focused and liking music to the degree that he is barely capable of anything else on a "good level". Despite that, despite what is regarded as a "mental illness", he developed a career and reputation for being the "best" at something for a while.
He used what he know to its peek, and mastered it. Hence, even mental illnesses aren't all negative. Though unto the topic at hand here. (But quickly about something else first.)
While I have never been diagnosed with any forms of mental illness, mainly because my parents never believed in going to a shrink and getting pills would help. Despite that, they both agree that if I did I would be diagnosed with at the very least ADHD or something alike it. (That and I was diagnosed with hyperactive behavior at at a young age, more than twice the normal amount.) In all honest, I do not believe in self-diagnoses and I am not saying that this is, but I wouldn't be shocked if I was diagnosed with it as I am right now. As for "depression" of any kind, that is something I have been diagnosed with, well kinda. I was referred to a psychologist by a friend once, I did go and after a few sessions the doctor did say that even without a throughout test of it, the chance of me suffering from some form of depression was high.
Well getting the info I needed, I went on my way before getting a diagnose, out of personal beliefs on the matter.
Unto the topic at hand for real this time.
Schizophrenic isn't something I have first hand experience with, but I have read about it from time to time. While that doesn't give me a degree or credibility behind a answer. I'd like to give me two dimes about it. As far as I know, there is little to do with schizophrenic both before and after. Even less before it happens itself. Though one normal way to work against possible mental illness is to stop what leads to it. Such as getting a hold of depression before it develops to severe depression, or another minor illness before it develops. "Getting to the root of the problem" as it's called. Though despite of the chance, there is a chance that I will die tomorrow, or the day after. My two dimes is to talk with the doctors as soon as possible, if there is a possibility. If they say it is and the treatment options are limited then go to sleep the same day thinking of one thing.
"From tomorrow and onward, I will use each day to its fullest."
Sadly i never mentioned the word "cure" i was just saying how you can't really get rid of it but you can learn to live with it and adapt for a more "normal" life. Pills or medicine can help stabilise you as long as you stay on medication you will be pretty much fine imo and obviously don't get overly stressed.
