The thing with forums is they start off with a hype, the hype wears off and activity slowly drops. Then the "this forum is dieing" threads start and new users see these and don't bother to sign up. A forum can only go as far as the users are willing to take it, the staff team is small, they don't have 100k friends they can invite to the forum, they can only do so much and then enforce the rules to keep the place nice and chill. It's up to us, the users, to try and bring in new members, to post content that attracts returning and new users.
I really don't blame forum owners for selling their forums when it starts to go down hill and they get a juicy offer. If the forums continue to grow then the owners are less likely to sell because the forum is still going somewhere. Users play a huge influence in the decision to sell or not. Not by their opinion but by their actions to keep the forum growing.
Now I'm speaking all high and mighty but I personally haven't done anything to help SBB grow yet but I do have some plans to hopefully attract 100's of new users soon. If everybody got two people to sign up and post a little and those two people got two people to do the same the forum would start to grow rapidly. It's the same concept as this post: https://supremebb.net/showthread.php?tid...1#pid18631.
True that, and hey you contribute more than enough
