Why do you think it's the victim's fault? (Regardless of if he locked it, because he did.)

You're channeling the negativity to the person (victim) instead of the thief (perpetrator). If I were to extrapolate, I'd go as far as assuming you would justify theft with (it wasn't secured well enough).

Essentially, you're what's wrong with the world.

Criminality will always be a thing. Not adequately securing your possessions, knowing the risks as any reasonable person should, means there was steps you could have taken to prevent it.

Do not equivilate it with putting the blame solely on the victim. It is stating the victim had options they could have taken to prevent it, which should be common sense.

And before you go into the spiel of "that's like saying rape victims should of dressed less provocatively", they are separate acts. People will attempt to rape others regardless of what the victim is wearing. And realistically, even if you "camouflage" your bike to look like a shitty bike, people will still attempt to steal it.

If a bike is properly secured, it cannot be stolen except by extraordinary means, that contradict how the majority of thieves conduct themselves.

Properly securing your bike is like travelling in groups to avoid potential violent attacks on ones person.

I'm equivocating blaming the victim because in essence, that's ultimately what it is.
Perhaps from a black and white perspective on it.
