I'm surprised this guide didn't mention avoiding trackers or flash objects at all.

Well in step 8 it instructs to disable all plugins, which should include flash player. Following the guide would make Firefox conflict with any trackers as cookies are removed each time a tab is closed and the user agent string is set to change frequently.
