It's just MSIL in exe form, interpreted by another library. I love C# a ton, probably the most productive language I've ever personally used (hate VB.NET for other reasons), but it is not a "true" executable that you can get with, say, C, C++, Delphi, etc.

That's correct, but it's still just as much as an executable as any. I mean, what are the defining terms of a "true" executable? Does using a framework void it being one?

And?

If that's your definition of a real language than it's extremely flawed; you've even contradicted yourself by using Python as an example of a "real language" considering in 90% (or more) of Python implementations/environments, it's an interpreted language. Only in certain cases such as being complied to byte code for the PVM (even then, it's still not the same as executables that were compiled by gcc/++, etc) and being JIT compiled (for certain optimizations that you don't get with interpretations) will you ever see Python being compiled. However, those cases are a minority.

Also, technically, PHP can be compiled and executed.

I never said PHP wasn't a real language, I meant to imply that it's not a language meant for virus creation. The only context I've meant to have spoken in here is for virus creation, that's what this topic is about. And the reason I included Python is because through personal experience I've seen it be used for malicious purposes a lot. Your statistic may be correct, but from my views around me I've seen it compiled to executables and used for virus' very easily.
