Earlier today Sega and Relic have officially confirmed that the release date for Company of Heroes 2 has been delayed. The game was set to release on the 12th of March, 2013 but has now been changed to June 25th, 2013.
"We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play, but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel fans deserve.” Said game producer Greg Wilson.
Many believe that the delay was a strategic decision on behalf of Sega because the game was due to release on the same day as Blizzard's StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. This strategic decision could mean that the game could get more press and publicity on the release date which would mean more exposure. This could lead to more game copies selling.
But whatever the reason for this delay was we can almost be sure that Sega will present a much more polished and smooth running game with no glitches or bugs.
Relic and Sega have also been hinting on a multiplayer closed beta, information about the beta will be announced "shortly.".
In my opinion this World War 2 themed real-time strategy game will be successful and this delayed release will give the developers more time to perfect and polish the game.
