Crysis 3 is a beautiful game to say the least; looking fantastic on both current generation consoles and PC. What’s perhaps most interesting is that it almost made its way over to the Wii U. But of course, that never fully played through.

Cevat Yerli, founder of Crytek, said in a recent interview that they had Crysis 3 operating on the Wii U; however, due to an absence in concern by both EA and Nintendo, the idea was shot down. Yerli noted, “We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it, but there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves — we don’t have a publishing license — Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die."

In turn, retail stores never got the opportunity to offer a copy to Wii U users, who in all likelihood would have enjoyed an addition title to the console's small portfolio of games currently on offer. Nintendo's Wii U has recieved a mixed response since its launch, with many gamers feeling unsatisfied as the outdated hardware produces results which merely match that of the PS3 and 360. If Nintendo and EA were to back Crytek, the console may have seen an increase in popularity and sales. Nonetheless, that isn’t the case. My condolences to the Wii U owners for both owning a Wii U and missing out on Crysis 3. Tough luck.
