RE: Newer generations, banning used games? 02-19-2013, 03:27 PM

If this comes true, this will not be good. First of all, Gamestop stores will shutdown because think of it like this. Usually people go into gamestop to find a cheap game to play and have fun, very rarely do people go in to buy a straight up, sealed, $60 game. More people buy used than new so think of it like this...
Say a gamestop brings in $100,000 a month and that gamestop's sales are mostly used games. Because it's sales are mostly used games, let's take away %60 of that. So now we have $40,000 a month. Instead of $1,200,000 a year, now that gamestop is only making $480,000 a year. Now remember, this gamestop has to pay employees, Renting bills, Misc. bills, and has to pay for hundreds of video games and consoles. And because video games will have to be $60, because they're new, not many people will buy the games. Not a lot of people can just drop $60 like that to buy a game. Less people would go to gamestop because of not having enough funds, which would in return, having gamestops firing employees left and right, have employee protests due to wage cuts, and then finally, you will see gamestops start to shutdown across the globe due to insufficient funding.
That is my theory.
